Jesus teaches us to discern who speaks for God with two metaphors: sheep and trees. Some sheep are actually wolves in sheep's clothing, and some trees grow bad fruit. A true spokesperson for God will produce goodness for those around them.

True Disciples Do the Will of the Father
Aligning with God’s will is a core theme in the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus says only those who do the desire of his Father will enter the Kingdom. True disciples do God’s will by living according to his wisdom.
In Matthew 7:15-23, Jesus uses two metaphors to teach us how to discern who speaks for God: sheep and trees. Some sheep are actually wolves dressed up in sheep's clothing, and some trees grow bad fruit. A true spokesperson for God will produce goodness for those around them. Jesus says that on the day of judgment, many will claim that they belong to him, but only those who do the desire of his Father will enter the Kingdom. Aligning with God’s will is a core theme in the Sermon on the Mount and emphasized in the Lord’s Prayer. True prophets and true disciples do the Father’s will by living according to God’s wisdom.
