Wisdom from Sensual Love Poetry?

Once you've listened to the short podcast, take time to reflect on these questions.

Think about an inspiring romantic relationship that you’ve witnessed in real life, a movie, or a book. What inspired you most about it?

What is one feature of that romance that could give you an example of what it means to be in relationship with God?

What is one thing that might be hindering intimacy in your relationship with God? What is one small step you can take to grow in that area today?

Message Question:
How did Carissa’s message challenge or encourage you today?

We all long to be truly seen, known, and loved by God and others. We want to fully give ourselves to these deep relationships. The Song of Songs is about that desire, that dream that imagines the unity of Heaven and Earth. One day this dream will be fully realized, but until then, we have access to unity with Jesus. He invites us into a real and intimate relationship. And in him, we can know a love that cannot be quenched or swept away—a love that can overflow toward others and heal creation. Let’s reflect on this.

While you review today’s passage, list all the figures of speech that the author uses. How many did you find?

A seal can represent permanence or a guarantee. Why do you think the lover wants this sign of security placed on the heart and arm of her beloved?

Review verse 6. How is love like an unquenchable fire? Review verse 7. Why is it that love cannot be bought with money?

Turn your reflections into a prayer. Express how you feel about the seal of God’s Spirit (see Ephesians 1:13-14) and his love that proved stronger than death (Ephesians 5:25-27, Romans 8:38).
